LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 15, 2022) – Sedans are some of the most sought after vehicles by many Gen Z, Millennial, and Gen X drivers due to the more affordable purchase price and savings at the gas pump. Mercury Insurance (NYSE: MCY), a leading auto insurer in California, the car capital of the U.S., and provider of auto insurance in 10 other states, has put together a list of the most affordable new sedans to help consumers find a vehicle that will save them money on insurance.
Mercury’s research and development team examined 2022 model year (MY) sedans that are available at car dealerships today to compile this list.
“One of the most important aspects of researching the ideal vehicle is to consider the total cost of ownership, which includes insurance costs,” said Chong Gao, Director of Product Management R&D for Mercury Insurance. “Some vehicles are known to have lower repair costs, which means they might also cost less to insure. For our customer’s convenience, Mercury has put together this list to help savvy vehicle shoppers know where savings can be found.”
Here is the top-ten list for new sedans, beginning with the most affordable make and model to insure:
- Chevrolet Spark
- VW Golf
- Toyota Prius Prime
- Volvo S90
- Mini Cooper
- Kia Rio
- Mitsubishi Mirage
- Honda Accord
- Nissan Versa
- Hyundai Accent
