Mercury Insurance Serves Up Free Tennis Tickets

Fans can get a pair of free tickets to the Mercury Insurance Open, July 30-Aug. 7 at La Costa by getting an online auto quote. It also gives them a chance to win a VIP Experience

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 27, 2011) – Free tennis tickets, anyone? Mercury Insurance is offering them to the 2011 Mercury Insurance Open presented by Tri-City Medical Center, July 30-August 7 at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.

According to Erik Thompson, Mercury advertising director, tennis fans can get free tickets to the event and learn about saving money on car and home insurance by simply getting an online Mercury auto insurance quote at http://www.mercuryinsurance.com/tennis.  

The “Get a Quote, Get a Pair of Tennis Tickets” promotion runs through July 15. Thompson said once the online quote is completed, fans will be sent a voucher redeemable for two free tickets. Additionally, they will automatically be entered to win a VIP experience at the 2011 Mercury Insurance Open, which includes four VIP tickets to any session, a room for two nights at the La Costa Resort and Spa, a $250 credit a La Costa, autographed event memorabilia and complimentary parking.

This is the second year Mercury, which specializes in personal auto and homeowners insurance, has sponsored the Women’s Tennis Association event. “At Mercury Insurance, it’s all about serving the community,” said Thompson. “We’ve been a community-focused company since we opened our doors for business 50 years ago and we’ll continue to support events like the Mercury Insurance Open that play a vital role in the local community.”

Among the players in the Mercury Insurance Open (a 56-player singles draw, 16-team doubles draw which sports $721,000 in prize money) are two-time defending US Open champion and reigning Australian Open champion Kim Clijsters, former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic, defending singles champion Svetlana Kuznetsova from Russia (ranked No. 12 in the world) and runner-up Agniezka Radwanska of Poland (ranked No. 11).

The Mercury Insurance Open is a participating tournament in the Olympus US Open Series. The US Open Series, now in its eighth year, is a six-week summer tennis season that links 10 ATP World Tour and WTA tournaments together. The series leads into the US Open. The Mercury Insurance Open is the second women’s event within the series.
