LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 13, 2012) – Los Angeles-based Mercury Insurance Group announced today it signed an agreement with the University of Southern California to sponsor Trojan football for the 2012 season.
“Sports sponsorships have been a great way for Mercury to connect with fans and let them sample our products and services,” said Erik Thompson, advertising director for Mercury, which currently sponsors UCLA football and basketball, LA Kings hockey and the Mercury Insurance Open women’s pro tennis event near San Diego. “Thanks to USC’s national prominence, as well as the passionate Cardinal and Gold fans and alumni, we’re confident the Trojans will be another excellent marketing partner.”
Mercury, specializing in personal auto and homeowners insurance since 1962, is running a promotion where fans can get a pair of free Trojans football tickets if they get an auto insurance quote and Mercury can’t beat their current rate.
“Mercury offers some of the most competitive rates in California and this is a novel way for Trojans fans to see if they can save some money with Mercury,” said Thompson. “Tickets to Trojans’ football games will, as usual, be a red-hot commodity and very difficult to get. This promotion may be the best chance for fans to see USC live and in person, or they could end up saving a few hundred dollars on their auto insurance. Either way, fans win.”
The Mercury ticket promotion offers a pair of free tickets to one of three Trojan games – Sept.1 vs. Hawaii, Oct. 20 vs. Colorado or Nov. 10 vs. Arizona State – if a consumer completes an online auto insurance quote at www.mercuryinsurance.com/usc and Mercury’s rate is higher. Quotes must be completed by Oct. 15 and redemption requests must be received by Nov. 1, 2012. Additionally, fans who purchase a new Mercury policy will receive a free Trojan football jersey from their new Mercury agent. Transactions must be completed by Dec. 31, 2012.
